Holy Jerusalem-heart of “historic” Palestine, the center point of the Ancient World’s three continents (Asia, Africa, Europe). Distinguished through the centuries by its architectural jewel, Dome of the rock.
Al Aqsa Al-Mubarak, the first Qiblah for Muslims during the beginning years of Islam. On the ninth year of Islam, the Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w) Ascended (araja) to heavens.
Thus it is considered as the doorway to heavens.

The Aluminum of
DOME OF THE ROCK/DORA.
Based on the decision of the official responsible party (Restoration Committee of Al-Aqsa Mosque and DOR),
a tender was announced in 04/06/1995 for selling the dissembled aluminum from DOR, in Al-Quds newspaper.

As the winner of the tender, the official sale agreement was signed between the 2 parties (Restoration Committee
on 29/06/1995 and Electrochemical Metalizing Establishment/ EME).

Then over several days, EME represented by Dr. Osama Odeh / the purchasing - owner party, loaded the Aluminum
from Al-Aqsa and transported it to its warehouse in Ramallah.
"DOR" RESTORATION WORKS
Although it was built more than 1300 years ago (1st Islamic Century - Hijri), during the era of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, the Dome of the Rock has not changed much and still considered as the most dominating centerpiece of Jerusalem.
The Dome was restored several time throughout the centuries and coated with metal plates like Lead Copper, and even Aluminum / for 1st time in history in 1964.

After dismantling all the aluminum plates during the last restoration project of 1992-94, which was (in addition to 1964 project) under the patronage of his Majesty Late King Hussain ibn Talal, the Gold electroplating of the Dome, for the first time in history, took place.
